Often when learning a new move in the swing it becomes difficult to put it into play as the swing is a dynamic movement.
To help you with this we like to use the stop and go drill. This drill splits the backswing from the downswing and gives you the time to think about the swing in 2 sections.
It could be that you are working on and movement on the backswing, such as getting the wrist hinge correct.
This would take place on the way back and when you stop at the top you will be able to feel if it is in position and then concentrate on the downswing move.
In the video Derek was working on completing his shoulder turn as in his swing he has a tendency to start down too early and not finish his turn.
It can also be useful if you are working on something on the downswing as you can then make your backswing, stop and then have the time to concentrate on the next move down.
But remember, technical practice should be followed up with feel practice and then pressure practice.
Make sure you are working in a way that helps you play better, not just look better. (Although it’s always nice!)
